About

Freshly self-identifying activist and spoken word poet, Kayla Carrington speaks on environmental and social injustices in the form that she knows best– rhymes. Music, education, nature, mindfulness, art, and self-care are a few of her avenues of life.

On May 17, 2018, Kayla released her very first poetry book titled Each Step In. The 60-page book centers on the intergenerational environmental anxiety that today's two youngest generations face. Without art, emotion, and nature in the conversations about climate change, these anxieties could soon easily dominate current times.

This monologue was performed on the University of Washington campus in February of 2018, and features poems in Kayla's book, Each Step In.
